This week's TNI Cool Custom Of The Week was done by a group of friends of Chile (South America) who call themselves,
Himesis. They have created a Star Wars 3 3/4" scale
JABBA THE HUTT'S SAIL BARGE. Here is how they describe the creation of it.
"The fantastic Jabba the Hutt's Sail Barge made at scale for the 3¾" Star Wars figures. Made entirely based on blueprints designed after a long and exhaustive research. It is totally handmade mostly out of plasticard, wood, honeycomb board and electric circuits.
The shape of the sail barge prow is one of the most accurated ever made after the film. At first sight you can see arround 200 panels (mostly uniques), 52 windows (5 from which can be opened), the engine (with batteries inside it), the deck, designed for 3¾" figures, 4 hidden removable doors with access to the interior of the ship. Besides all that, you'll see that the sails, mast and ailerons are also removables.
Her measures are 64 inches length, 17 inches tall and 16 inches deep. Her weight is about 8 pounds. As you can see it is really huge!
Several painting techniques were used to reach the most accurate realism (brush and aerograph in search of that rusted metal finish characteristic of the ship).
The sail barge has 3 finely designed interiors cabins which are hidden when their access panels are closed:
- The throne room of Jabba the Hutt including: Jabba's throne; also has the mural (entitled Ne Ganna Dateel Jabba) with the picture of Jabba designed to represent exactly the movie scene and it is also removable; 3 lamps, accesories and enough space for his henchmen. This room is connected with the others two.
- A corridor with stairs that leads to the upper deck through a hatchway.
- And finally the meeting room, including 3 tables, 3 lamps and accesories.
There is an electric system to light 6 bulbs that is operated with two 9v batteries (not included). The switch and batteries are located at the stern of the sail barge."
