Variety is reporting that Intellectual Properties Worldwide has acquired the feature film rights to Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier's Groo the Wanderer. First published in 1983, Groo has trekked through more than 170 comic book issues overcoming all sorts of fantasy obstacles including evil wizards, deadly dragons and winsome witches -- and accomplishing these feats in spite of the fact that the spindly-legged hero gives every evidence of being dumb as a post. Aragones has worked for Mad Magazine since way back in 1963 and his Groo the Wanderer comics bear both the graphic look and the snarky satirical edge of many of the denizens of that seminal humor publication.
Creators Sergio Aragones and Mark Evanier will serve as executive producers along with Jeffrey Allard (the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake).
