Bryan Singer Talks Superman

by Jay Cochran
November 13, 2004

SupermanV.com has reported about a new interview with director Bryan Singer by a LA based Radio Station KROQ. In the interview he explains why he didn't want to use Smallville star Tom Welling for the lead role of Superman and how this movie will not be a orgin story but a story about his return. Here are some quotes of the interview.

On Tom Welling
"I didn't want to make a Smallville feature, I wanted it to be a Superman Movie. And even though he's terrific, he exists in carrying the torch in a certain period of the character's life. But for us this guy is just passed that period. So I felt it had to really be a separate entity."

On the story
"This will be at a time Superman already existed in Metropolis, and had a relation of a kind with Lois Lane that is now gone. So this is the story of a return."

Superman begins filming in early 2005 for a summer 2006 release.
