Weekend Box Office Totals

by Outsiders
March 7, 2005
It continues to be a bad season for thriller/horror genre films as The Jacket discovers this weekend, just entering the top ten and being bested by last weekend’s PG-13 teenage fare The Cursed. Apparently a bunch of Oscars help your box office profits as well, as Million Dollar Baby gets a slight boost while The Aviator drops off the top ten entirely. Vin Diesel gets the top this week, but he won’t hold it for long as Robots hits theaters next weekend, or more importantly the Star Wars: Episode III trailer hits theaters. I expect Robots will have a significant gross next weekend. I just wish there was a way to track how many were just seeing it for the trailers.

Here’s this weekend’s top ten:

TOP TEN: March 4th, 2005 – March 6th, 2005

1. The Pacifier* - $30.2 Million
2. Be Cool* - $23.5 Million
3. Hitch - $12.5 Million ($138 Million)
4. Diary of a Mad Black Woman - $12.5 Million ($38.1 Million)
5. Million Dollar Baby - $8.51 Million ($38.1 Million)
6. Constantine - $6 Million ($60.5 Million)
7. Cursed - $93.88 Million ($15.3 Million)
8. Man of the House - $3.5 Million ($13.9 Million)
9. Because of Winn-Dixie - $3.45 Million ($27 Million)
10. The Jacket* - $2.67 Million
