IGN Filmforce is doing a fandom recap of the new BBC
Doctor Who series which started back up this year.
The premiere episode of the first Doctor Who series in 16 years surprised even its strongest supporters at the BBC by bringing in over 10 million viewers, prompting the network to announce a Christmas special to air this year and a second series for next year. Later in the day, a press release issued by the BBC contained a statement from Who star Christopher Eccleston, announcing that he wouldn't be back for the second series. Eccleston's statement also contained a hope that this announcement wouldn't dampen viewer enthusiasm for the new series. There was only one problem with the statement: Eccleston didn't have anything to do with it.
