With this past Tuesdays' release of
Inspector Gadget - Vol 1: The Gadget Files under their belts, distributor UAV now turns their attention to their next Gadget release.
Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas is due for release on August 31, with four episodes.
"Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas"
Join the world's most technologically advanced and bumbling detective, Inspector Gadget in his most important mission yet.save Christmas! In this, the second of the post-series telefilms, there's trouble at the North Pole... and Doctor Claw, Inspector Gadget's nefarious arch-nemesis, is behind it! By capturing Santa Claus and programming all the Elves into drones, Claw hopes to ruin Christmas. Inspector Gadget is sent to investigate and takes a perilous tour of the Workshop with Santa's replacement - Santa Claw! Will Claw succeed in his diabolical plan or will Gadget, with a little help from Penny and the Brain, save Christmas and bring joy back to the world?
"The Weather in Tibet"
Gadget must come to the rescue after M.A.D. invents a weather control machine and holds the world for ransom.
"So is it Written"
Gadget arrives in an Arabian country where he is believed to be the prophesized one who will find a long lost treasure cave.
"Birds of a Feather"
This episode is a bonus, exclusive to the DVD release. In Turkey, Gadget must stop Dr. Claw from using birds to steal the Star of Instanbul gemstone from an exhibition.
All three of the regular episodes included on this disc are from near the regular run of the series, so we asked UAV if this was to be considered "Volume 2" in the ongoing special edition series of releases. "No," came the reply. We were told that this is a special holiday release, and not part of that series.
Inspector Gadget - Volume 2 (along with Super Mario Brothers Super-Show - Volume 2) will be released before the end of this year, and will contain the next five episodes of the series (which would be "Health Spa", "The Boat", "Haunted Castle", "Race to the Finish", and "The Ruby"). The exact release date and subtitle aren't available to pass on yet, but should be before too long.
Plans are to get the 3rd volume out in 2005, and Gadget and Mario should continue to be released side-by-side, 5 episodes per disc, on a basis that should roughly work out to one title (per show) for each quarter. Stay tuned for more details about future releases, but for right now, enjoy The Gadget Files, and get ready to help while Inspector Gadget Saves Christmas.
