MechWarrior Goes Direct to DVD

WizKids and Mainframe Entertainment will produce a 3D CGI direct-to-DVD feature based on the MechWarrior property, for release in 2006. Mainframe will introduce new CGI techniques in the feature "...that will give a unique look and feel to the story."

The feature will also introduce new characters and storylines. It will be set at a time after the old glory of the BattleMechs has passed, when a young hero seeks out a cache of lost BattleMechs to protect his home planet against invasion.

Mainframe is majority-owned by IDT Entertainment, which also owns all or part of Archie, Film Roman, Vanguard, and Stan Lee's POW Entertainment.

MechWarrior has a long and august history, with over 13 million videogames sold, 79 novels published, and tens of millions of WizKids CMG figures sold.
