Velvet Revolver Singer Ordered to Rehab!

LOS ANGELES - Velvet Revolver lead singer Scott Weiland has been ordered to complete a six-month drug program as a result of his no contest plea to a charge of driving under the influence.

Superior Court Judge Randolph Moore also sentenced Weiland Thursday to three years' probation and ordered him to pay a $390 fine plus penalty assessments, said Frank Mateljan of the city attorney's office.

Weiland, 36, also was ordered to pay restitution to the owner of a parked vehicle he rammed with his car on Oct. 27 in Hollywood, Mateljan said.

Weiland, former lead singer of the Stone Temple Pilots, pleaded no contest on July 2 to the misdemeanor DUI charge.

He previously pleaded no contest in August to possession of heroin found during a May 2003 arrest in Burbank.

The singer was ordered in January to return to a live-in drug detoxification center after he left earlier than he was authorized to.

Weiland was jailed in 1999 for violating probation on a previous drug arrest and failing to complete a rehabilitation program.
