Entertainment Rights Apoints US Distribution For She-Ra: Princess Of Power

by Jay Cochran
March 19, 2006

This agreement will see 230 hours of programming from ER's Filmation library of classic contemporary characters available on DVD in the US for the first time ever, including She-Ra: Princess of Power®, The Legend of Bravestarr, Blackstar, Ghostbusters, The New Adventures of Zorro, The Lone Ranger, Groovie Goolies, Snow White Happily Ever After and several live action series including The Secret of Isis.

The distribution agreement offers ER further opportunities in the world's largest economy and adds to ER's growing business in the US, the world's number one home entertainment market, where annual retail sales are estimated to be worth in excess of US$24 billion. Working closely with ER, BCI will be implementing an innovative marketing and promotional campaign throughout 2006 and beyond to capitalise on the popularity of these classic brands.

ER is currently exploring a range of digital media opportunities for the Filmation library including television, online and mobile content. He-Man® has already been successfully released on Universal Media Disc ("UMD") format in the US following ER's agreement with BCI for the US Playstation Portable ("PSP") rights to He-Man and the Masters of the Universe®.

Kathleen Hricik Executive Vice President and Managing Director, USA, Canada and Latin America, Entertainment Rights commented: "We are delighted to extend our business with BCI to incorporate more of the Filmation titles following their great success with He-Man on DVD. The Filmation catalogue is a valuable asset as this latest deal demonstrates and we will continue to exploit the huge potential of these much loved brands."

Jeff Hayne, Director of Acquisitions, BCI said: "We are thrilled to have the opportunity to represent ER and the classic Filmation brands. We look forward to marketing and distributing the Filmation titles to the significant existing fan base as well as introducing them to a new generation of fans."
