The second day of the 10th Annual G.I.Joe "Heroes Unite" convention has come to pass with the unveiling of Hasbro's G.I.Joe products for 2006. For the 3 3/4" line we will see the release of the 4th wave of single carded figures. This wave includes:
Lt. Falcon, Airtight, Outback, Munitia, Cobra Officer & Cobra Night Viper. There will also be two new 6-packs released this year. The
Steel Birgade which will include:
Red Zone, Checkpoint, Rook, Cobra Plague Troop Commander Guillotine, Plague Trooper Gallows & Plague Trooper Grim Skull. Finally fans of classic RAH (Real American Hero) will have a new classic Cobra Viper 6-pack to look forward two called
"Cobra Viper Pit".
All of these will be released thru online etailers like the previous DTC waves. For those of you who prefer to go to concrete retailers, they will also be available exclusivly at Toys R Us stores. Look for them to be out sometime around September 2006.
Now for those of you wondering what 2007 will have in store for the 3 3/4" line, all we could get Hasbro's Dwight Stall to tell us was that there would be something released for the 3 3/4" line for G.I.Joe's 25th anniversary. What exactly that would be, he would not say, other then it would be the most articulated Joe figure made to date. He also said they were all very excited about the future of G.I.Joe and that many ideas were being proposed and tossed about. Things like 8" Classic figures or even a Build-A-Figure type deal, though nothing at this time had been given the green light.
Mr. Stall who also works on other brands in Hasbro indicated that there would be an awsome Transformers Movie line coming out in 2007, and also of course the new Marvel products which he indicated we should see some of at this year's San Diego Comic Convention.
Update:
The Plague: TNI Board member Recondo chimes in with a little bit of background on the new Cobra character called
The Plague, that come in Hasbro's new Steel Birgade 6-pack. The file cards were done by him and Brandon Jerwa.
"Cobra Commander came to the point that "if ya can't beat 'em, join 'em" & decided that he'd try a Joe style unit instead of a usual cannon fodder unit, like the rest of his army."
Thanks to Recondo for the information.
