Mattel 12" Ghostbusters Dr. Peter Venkman Problems & Fixes

We have gotten a number of emails from readers today who ordered the new 12" Ghostbusters Dr. Peter Venkman figure from Mattel this week and noticed that they received a sculpt that appears to be different from what was advertised.

We contacted Mattel's own Scott Neitlich to find out what was going on. Unfortunately he was out of the office today, and we have not heard back from him yet. After some further investigating, we did discover some new details on this. According to Vincenzo330 over on the GBfans.com message boards, he discovered that it wasn't actually a head swap that transpired but instead a head squish.

Apparently the way some of the figures were packaged, the head got squeezed and took on a different shape than originally intended. According to Vince, if you take a hairdryer and warm up the plastic some then pinch the plastic a bit, you should be able to make the head look like Bill Murray. See before and after images of Vince's figure below.

For those asking if Mattel will refund your money if you wish to return the figure, according to their website The MattyCollector.com store by Digital River offers a 30-day money back guarantee, excluding subscriptions.
