^ This is true... Youtube has changed a lot, just since Ive been doing it. Never mind going back to the way it was when it all started. My own personal content creation has always remained fairly simple, and hopefully, easily approachable, for those who have similar interests. And the communication that goes back and forth between myself and my friends, acquaintances and peers as I refuse to see them as an audience or group of followers is what makes it worthwhile.
But then, I like to switch it up sometimes, too... Like, for example, Id love to get a case of these kind of blind box mini figures, and do a random unboxing video, one day. To me, that would be pretty fun, and hopefully be engaging for those who dig what I do, as something a little different.
I'd much rather watch a less professional youtuber who actually had their own views and opinions than one who does and says everything perfectly, I feel like a lot of youtubers have lost that human touch.

Yea, exactly... I definitely tend to respect and follow people who you can tell are doing it for the love of it, and arent afraid to say what they really think.
Ive been doing the Youtube thing for going on eight years, never having monetized videos, or had a patreon or anything. Just for the love of the discussion and communicating with folks that share my interests. It wasnt until very recently, after having been asked repeatedly over the years, that I finally caved an created a PayPal contribution account. As some of the folks who follow me know of my financial and technical woes.
But, I honestly hold little expectation that Ill suddenly turn Youtube into making a living. Its still just this thing I do for the fun and enjoyment of it. Which is how I prefer it, over it being a business.

But, thats kind of why I took a bit of a break. To both get back to that level of love I had for it, as well as see if Icould get back to it. I think its been good to switch things up a bit.

I think the best way to look at it is to just do what you enjoy and just be yourself, if you feel like you want to put a lot of effort into it then do it but do it for you and not for a paycheck or recognition.

It makes you start to question the work you actually put into your own creative pursuits sometimes.
But, its all fair play... Im just grateful I have the small following that I do. As, I prefer a group of friends and acquaintances to a party of followers / subscribers.

With the occasional comic book movie, Star Trek and Doctor Who related discussions. So, a lot of my time has just been trying to keep up with the new episodes coming out every week. And that takes up almost all of my free time. Ive had to take a bit of a video making break as a result. But, when I was still doing daily and every other day uploads, that was the prime real estate for reading. Whether that be comics or straight up books. I actually miss it, because reading (and later, writing) was one of my earliest passions. So, I could totally benefit from a means of better allocating my time, as well, lol.
