NECA Alien: Romulus Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph and Accessory Set Review and Images

It's Wednesday and you know what that means: ToyFarce review!

This week, we're having a look at the Alien: Romulus Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph and Accessory Set from NECA! Why now? Well, let's just say I won't order directly from them anymore... I still have a couple of orders in limbo, but oh well... (At least I got my SDCC 2023 TMNT First Turtles set from them this month. Yep, the 2023 one. Their customer service is abysmal.) I was looking forward to take pictures of it and post a review, so I decided to go with it anyway, even if most people got them at discounted price over 6 months ago. This Xenomorph is awesome and might be their best by far, and the Accessory Set is worth it just for the fossilized asteroid. I love it!

I like the packaging on those, without the front 'flap', and the prints directly on the transparent plastic sheet, which give them a very 'Alien' vibe. It's different, and nice.

The Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph figure comes with way more than I expected (let's pretend I didn't see reviews and pics of it for the last 6 months...). It comes with 2 face plates (normal and damaged), a facehugger, a chestbuster, 6 pairs of hands (!) and a display stand. That's a lot of hands! A few of them might seem pretty similar at first, but it's the little subtleties that make them stand out, especially in toy photography. This Xenomorph is also HUGE, I have a few of them and he towers over them all. It has beautiful details in the sculpt, and fantastic paint apps. I love the brown highlights on the design. It's a perfect organism alright! Just like the Feral Predator from Prey, this Xenomorph from Alien: Romulus is definitely their best one yet, with a lot of improvements. The stand is also definitely welcome.

Alien Ultimate Big Chap and Alien: Romulus Ultimate Scorched Xenomorph

The Accessory Set is definitely worth it, with a Fossilized Asteroid with the Big Chap from the first movie fossilized in it, a cryoframe case with 4 attachments (two normal ones, one with holes and one damaged), 3 facehuggers (normal, head attachement for other NECA figures and one to display in the cryo case), 2 chestbusters (normal and 'straight out of a chest') and a Model F44AA Pulse Rifle. I had hoped the rifle would come with a figure of Rain Carradine from the movie, but if we don't get human figures, this will do for now. I'm in love with the fossilized Big Chap, which has a hole in the back and can be wall-mounted. The details and color are great on it. It's a great display piece. The various facehuggers and chestbusters are nice too, and the cryoframe case looks just like in the movie. Just don't store deadly alien species in them!

NECA has since announced a few more figures from Alien: Romulus, such as the Deluxe Suspended Lab Xenomorph XX121 (which I will get, it looks awesome) and the Xenomorph XX121 (which I will not get, since I have the Ultimate Big Chap and it's pretty much the same).

You can get some awesome NECA Alien: Romulus figures and more from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.

Oh yes, I forgot to mention it, it has kind of a translucent look, that is more visible in some areas (arms, fingers, legs...). Thanks for pointing this out! It's a dark translucent plastic, barely noticeable unless you have a big light behind it.

Thanks for clarifying this, I believe it's a first or at least I haven't seen this from any previous release. Nice touch.

Pretty cool stuff! I love the paint deco first and foremost, but also the articulation and the ton of accessories are also a big plus! The green and reddish background lights are perfect for this theme! Are the fingers on the open hand translucent? or at least it looks like, but anyway those are again a nice touch tbh. Oh and I hope that this time, the loop's going to be resolved so you can get easier the remaining figures.
