“Earlier today, we shared with our employees that we’re making progress on determining our HQ, with clarity expected by this summer,” Hasbro spokesperson Abby Hodes told 12 News in an email. “We’ll keep you updated in the coming months about any additional relevant news.”
they probably could save a lot of money just by replacing the CEO instead

According to publicly available data the average salary of a Hasbro employee is $126,000 To maintain that same standard of living one would have to earn $169,000 in Boston. Housing, on average is 95% higher as well. I think about the people who will wind up having to uproot families, change schools, and find housing in this market as well as those who can't afford to move. Hasbro isn't going to just increase the wages of employees because Boston is more expensive.
Most companies that size do increase wages based on geography, but probably not 35%. I understand your point. I feel bad for RI just because of tradition and anyone negatively affected. But I'm betting employee issues are driving a lot of this decision. It's not like they are moving to Texas or Florida to evade taxes.

Their pool for available employees will increase dramatically. Whether that's enough to offset everything else is an open question. But I think you're looking at the employee issue in a narrow way.

The idea that people who have families in RI could easily up and relocate to Boston is ridiculous. I'm sure MA would give Hasbro some kind of tax incentive to move the company there but in the long run it would require numerous new hires and extensive training to bring staff up to speed. Plus this would be a huge blow to the economy of RI. Just seems pretty dastardly is Hasbro does move to Boston.
