ThunderCats Ultimates Figures I Want To See From Super7

Between Mattel and Super7 we are very close to finally being able to complete the original ThunderCats team as well as Mumm-Ra and the original mutants with modern sculpted figures. Before I go over my wish list of figures I would love to see Super7 do next, lets recap everything we know has come or coming fairly soon.

First back in 2016 when Mattel first grabbed the license to do ThunderCats Classic figures, we got Wily Kit & Wily Kat in the forum of a SDCC exclusive 2-pack. I am sure at some point Super7 will get around to re-releasing these two in some way, but hopefully if you are collecting this line you've already gotten your hands on these.

Next Mattel released their first wave of Classic figures which included Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman, Mummified Mumm-Ra, and Pumyra.

Shortly after the release of that initial wave, Mattel decided to hand the ThunderCats off to Super7 so they could continue on with the line.

Super7 renamed the line ThunderCats Ultimates, and for their first wave of figures re-released Lion-O, Panthro, Jackalman and Mummified Mumm-Ra. These figures have updated accessories. The figure in my opinion with the best update is Mumm-Ra, who now includes a soft-good robe. This wave just started arriving in people's mailboxes and is available for purchase from our sponsor BigBadToyStore.com.

For Super7's second wave which has yet to be released, it will include a re-release of Pumyra. The Mattel version was to tall, so that should be fixed with this one. You also get additional accessories like the figures in the first wave.

The other figures include Grune, Mumm-Ra The Ever Living, and Tygra.

The final wave we know about coming from Super7 for ThunderCats will include figures of Jaga, Captain Cracker, Slithe and Cheetara.

So after the third wave is released, we will have an almost complete set of the original ThunderCats team in figure form, (Jaga, Lion-O, Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Wily Kit & Wily Kat). The only one missing will be Snarf. which I don't know how they will release him. He would be to small of a character to be released as single figure, but important enough I can't see them not doing him. Why he wasn't included as pack-in with the Lion-O figure is a mystery to me. After all we are getting Ma-Mutt with the Mumm-Ra The Ever Living figure.

For the bad guys we will have both versions of Mumm-Ra as well as mutant leader Slithe and Jackalman. Monkian is the only original mutant member we need, so hopefully he will be announced for wave 4.

So besides Monkian and Snarf (and possibly Wily Kit & Wily Kat for those who missed the Mattel ones), here is my breakdown on the characters I would love to see Super7 do next.

While not an original mutant team member, probably my favorite one of the bunch was Vultureman. I hope to see him and Monkian in wave 4.

For good guys, I think the Berbils need to happen. They were the Ewoks of Third Earth but they played a major role in helping the ThunderCats get settled in to their new home. I think due to their small size Super7 should do a three pack featuring their leader Ro-Bear Bill, Ro-Bear Belle and a generic Berbill.

Going back to the bad guys, rounding out the mutants is Ratar-O. He is another favorite of mine. He is a definite must for me to get the figure treatment.

I suppose I should go back to good guys, and I am sure Super7 will continue to give us a mix of good guys and bad guys in each wave. For me however I would rather see figures of Demolisher, Safari Joe and Driller before seeing any other good guy characters made. Hopefully Demolisher will come with his armadillo pilot Dirge and Joe will come with his robotic side-kick Mule.

Ok so getting back to the good guys, we should get figures of Bengali and Lynx-O to round out the second wave of ThunderCats from the cartoon. These two would join Pumyra from wave 2.

This is getting far enough down the road that I'm inclined to say lets wait and see if Super7 is still doing ThunderCats figures by this point. Assuming they are and if I had to pick any more, I would like to see Mandora and Quick-Pick for good guys.

And Captain Shiner for another bad guy. Truth is, as long as we get all the original ThunderCats and Monkian with maybe Vultureman to round out the mutants, I will be pretty happy. Let us know in the COMMENTS SECTION below which characters you want to see Super7 do the most.

In all honesty, I'm happy to see someone finally managing to do something with the license, going beyond the core characters and adding some additional characters, even if only I'm only watching from a distant fence, but as I had already stated I wish it was by a company with more resources. But come on, it's just a talk, and at the end of the day if you like it what other people think is left over.

I guess that is the truth.  we should be happy to have someone making the figs.  i have wanted a full Thundercats collection for some time and collecting the vintage toys is very expensive.  Although these are expensive as well, they are not as expensive as the vintage toys and we get many more accessories and heads.

Well guys you should be happy that Super 7 is making these figures from a line that super death just a few years ago... Be grateful because nobody else step up to get this license and make something with it... Most importantly Super 7 is been doing continues releases instead of going one or two figures a year...

Nope, if I were collecting this line (I'm currently on the fence), these guys would be the last ones I'd like to see getting made, but when it comes to more recurrent characters than Mumm Ra disguised we've already mentioned several which, I think, would look more spectacular in the super7's ultimate format: Hachiman, Hammerhand, Mongor, Safari Joe, Ratar O, Capt. Shiner, etc; now in the category of least recurrents characters or in the category of the characters that never got a fig back in the 80's, Wiz Ra, Jagara, Mandora, the Amazons, that guy Pyron or king Claudus would be better choices, just my 2 cents.

I agree, its not a matter of making recurring characters or not its more of a character that has more importance in the series than a character that only apeared once or that even though was a recurring character was just a third tier character only there to fill in space like those sheep things, just like you mentioned there are several villians that appeared in one or two episodes that were better than that Pumm-Ra (specially since he's basically just mumm-ra disguised, and we already hace 2 mumm-ras already, why not give us other characters).Im sure Ratar O will be released soon (probably in wave 6) since theyre making one Mutant per wave so far with Vulture Man most likely being in the next one, but They could have easily started With the Berserks or the Lunatacks in this wave, have one Thundercat, one mutant, one ally/standalone character like snowman is and one lunatack or berserk would be a great balance in each wave.

Thank you for that.  I agree with you now that you shared you thoughts. I guess it does make sense to mix it up that way from a business standpoint.

I had heard that Super 7 lost MOTU though because people were just not happy with they way they were handling it.  It also seemed like through interviews and things I watched that Super 7 seemed almost ashamed to not have the line anymore.

Nah. Mattel isn't gonna let someone else handle their baby when their is major entertainment backing it. If Super7 was ashamed I would say its because they entered an agreement that allowed Mattel to take it back at anytime. That to me seemed kinda stupid but since I wasn't privy to the contract negotiations between the two companies its hard to say for sure. ThunderCats was kinda like the consultation prize I think, but like I say, if Mattel saw the potential for real money to be made from ThunderCats in being able to sell them beyond the small niche collector market I think they would still be releasing those as well.

Mixing main characters with obscure ones I think makes perfect sense. Truth is ThunderCats has more obscure characters in it than known ones and if you put all the main ones out all at the front of the line then your left with figures that dont sell. Sure would I personally rather see Vultureman before Pummra? Of course, but from a business perspective this wave makes perfect sense. PummRa is essentially Mumm-Ra and also a kind of ThunderCat. Also was prominently featured in a season 1 episode. People tend to remember more from season 1 than they do say season 3. The wave has both Monkian and Lynx-O so there are your more mainstream characters along with two obscure ones. I actually remember PummRa better from the show than I do Snowman.

Super7 didn't loose MOTU. Mattle lent Super7 the license during a time when MOTU had nothing backing it, and once they knew the Netflix shows started moving forward, Mattel took it back in-house because they knew at that point they could get the big box stores to start carrying the line again. Had nothing to do with decisions Super7 made. The same would happen to ThunderCats if Mattel thought the big box retailers had any interest in carrying them.

Agreed.  There are many other choices.  They need to watch the episodes again and start making better decisions.  They lost MOTU.  They should be careful to not lose this too.
