A Closer Look At 'Tron Legacy' Toys From Spin Master

Now that a few weeks have passed since Comic-Con and we have had some time to take in all the cool new products that were shown, we thought we would take a closer look at one of the cooler lines that really stood out to us at the show: Spin Master's Tron Legacy line.

We first told you about this line back in June and even gave you a brief glimpse at the products, but we will be the first to admit the early images really don't do this line justice. When we saw these first hand at Comic-Con, we were amazed at how cool these figures looked. Spin Master seems to have pulled out all of the stops on this line, doing figures in multiple scales such as 3.75", 7.5" and even a 12" Ultimate Sam Flynn figure.

What makes these figures so cool (besides being chalked with a decent amount of articulation) is the unique light up and electronic features.

The 3.75" scale figures light up to mimic the unique suits the characters wear in the movie and come with accessories like the trademark discs, batons and stands.

The 7.5" scale figures also have the electronic lighting effects on the suit and accessories like the discs. These also incorporate something called impulse projection technology which brings the characters to life by projecting digitized, illuminated and moving faces onto the helmet just as in the film.

There also will be a line of Core and Deluxe Vehicles released. These detailed replicas from the movie will come to life when a character is inserted and they both light up. The Deluxe model features launch projectiles, tri-color light changes, pop-up air brakes (pop-up blasters on the Light Runner) and gravity tilt sounds, just like in the movie. These will range in price from $14.99 and $19.99.

Another cool thing you can look forward to from Spin Master is the Zero Gravity Light Cycle. This toy features six-foot, light-emitting trails and legendary Air Hogs technology that allows the vehicle to be driven on a wall or even upside down using a controller. See this video for a demonstration.

The Tron Legacy Recognizer Playset is made to look like the menacing Recognizer from the movie and doubles as a carrying case for the diecast Light Cycles they are also releasing. If that wasn't enough, also look for a cool Tron Light Cycle Pursuit Race Track and Tron Legacy Coliseum Disc Shooter game where you can recreate the light-disc battles from movie.

Look for these to start hitting shelves in October 2010.

Tron Legacy is a 3D high-tech adventure from Disney set in a digital world that's unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father's disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin's loyal confidant (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

Tron Legacy will open in theaters on December 17, 2010.
