For those fans of the Classic ThunderCats, Icon Heroes has a new item for you. It’s a Polystone Environment of the Cats Lair. Made of heavy weight polyresin, this environment statue measures a massive 7.9” wide x 11” deep x 9.5” tall and weighs approximately 6 pounds.
Packaging - The environment comes in a completely enclosed box that features a photo of the product along with the Classic ThunderCats logo. On the side is some nice art of the Lair as it appeared in the original cartoon. The back features another product image along with concept art and a work-in-progress sculpt. The environment itself is encased in styrofoam to prevent damage in transport.
Sculpt - The sculpt of this environment is nicely detailed and remains true to the headquarters appearance in the 80’s cartoon. From the Cats head to the Thundercats logo on its chest. The detail is so good it makes you wish that this was a functional toy and not just a polystone environment.
Paint - The lair features a glossy white paint for the main body of the Lair which makes the bluish grays of the hand and claws stand out nicely as well as the Cats logo on the chest.
Fun Factor - Well as I mentioned before, this item isn’t an actual toy made to be played with so the fun factor really isn’t much of a factor here, but it sure is nice to look at and display. One thing that does make it fun is that it makes a nice backdrop to display your Lion-O figure, whether it’s one of the Icon Heroes Staticon figures or one of Bandai’s 6” figures.
Overall - If you are a fan of the Classic ThunderCats and want a cool display piece for your shelf, then you will definitely want to check this one out.
