Brian and his buddies at Super7. It's pretty clear when they get these licenses, they focus on putting out the characters THEY want made. Somebody at S7 wanted Poochie, that flamethrowing boss guy, etc.
I'm still gonna get the Big Bad Wolf and the Queen of Hearts, but I'd love to have had a White Rabbit and Cheshire cat at minimum to go with that Alice collection we started. It would be cool if Boss Fight started putting out Disney stuff like they do their Popeye collection.
Unfortunately, I don't think this will be the last line cancellation for them - because it's mostly the same circumstances, I'm pretty sure the Star Trek TNG line is going to go the same way.
They keep getting these licenses to attract new collectors, but the character selection is just terrible, and price point is just too high. The Ultimates lines are also very hard to get into collecting later because of their pre-order methods, so they inherently limit people getting involved if and when they actually get to demanded characters. Their sales strategy just needs a lot of work.
Basically, they discourage all but the most hard core, all-in from the start collecting, and just don't deliver the value with the price points they sell at. When you look at what other companies are doing for 1/2 the price, it's just no wonder they aren't selling.

I think that's my biggest issue with Super7- most of their Ultimates figures are decent, but not amazing. I think they were trying to appeal to some other folks who might not have been familiar with them as a company, but $45-$55 for a single action figure is going to be a hard sell. I think they would have had much better look cutting down on the accessories, and making the packaging less complex, to bring the MSRP down. Some other Disney fans might have taken more of a chance with $29.99 figures, and then Super7 could have increased the pricing and accessories after a couple of waves. As it is, even a lot of longtime collectors have gotten turned off, or at least less enthusiastic, about them as a company. They just haven't improved their quality control in several years. I was pretty much "all in" with their Thundercats Ultimates, but loose joints and sloppy paint jobs, coupled with the increasing price, made me cancel a bunch of Super7 pre-orders. I'll probably snag some must-haves (Hachiman, Chilla, Snarf, etc.), but it's really hard to justify their pricing when I can buy 2-and-a-half Mattel Masterverse figures, which have much better quality control, for the price of one Super7 Ultimate figure. Sure, different licenses, but I collect a lot of different toy lines, and my spending money is finite. For $55.00, these should be top-notch figures, and they just aren't.

For the past 2-3 years Brian mentioned on several interviews about the Disney fans not reacting to the lines because they want all main figures rather than one obscure one or secondary characters... Not sure if it was too late for him to apply an adjustment to that but this is the result of that strategy. I'm bug fan of Super 7 and I certainly don't enjoy their failure with Disney sin e they are pretty much the only company around doing nostalgia collections that we never thought somebody will pickup, example ThunderCats, Silverhawks, Conan movie and now TigerSharks...???
Dang, I was really hoping we would get Briar Rose and other Sleeping Beauty chars. I would have made great Eyevind Earl dioramas.

I can't say much, since the Ultimates lines are too expensive for me anyway, but if I was buying them, I'd have probably ignored the Simpsons line just because the main thing i'd want is the five family members (maybe package Maggie with Santa's Little Helper and Snowball II). Don't know why anyone would want to start with Homer in a mumu.
though if I had the money I'd probably get the Itchy and Scratchy robots. one smart thing they did was putting those both out at the same time.
