Actually a couple in the comics. First was an alien Rita used to obtain the coin. He then tried to use it against her. Didn't go well.
Then after Tommy became the White Ranger, Billy worked with Prometheus (company started by Grace Sterling, the Red Ranger from 1969) to restore it, and it was given to Matt Cook (Kimberly's ex boyfriend who had previously discovered their identities).
The comics aren't perfect, but they have some good stuff. I just wish Hasbro would have put out a figure of Matt as the Green Ranger before they killed the brand and buried its corpse at Playmates.
