Walter Hamada Taking Over DC Films After Lackluster Justice League Performance

January 06, 2018

After another dismal DC Comics movie box office performance with Justice League, Warner Bros has announced they are shacking things up at the top. Last month it was announced that Jon Berg and Geoff Johns would be stepping down as co-chairs of the DC Films division which was followed by an announcement this week that Walter Hamada from the New Line Cinema division would be taking over.

Hamada has been involved with recent successes such as The Conjuring and IT, both of which are horror movies. So it remains to be seen how much help he will be in righting the ship so to speak with the DC Heroes, a completely different type of genre.

Johns will stay on as President and creative officer at DC working closely with Hamada. Next up for DC films will be an Aquaman solo film due out later this year followed by Shazam and Wonder Woman 2 in 2019.
