But when you're less than five minutes into the pilot and the star is rousted in a bogus traffic stop (clich #1) by the fat, redneck white cop (clich #2) after bailing his racially militant daughter (clich #3) out of jail... you pretty much know where the show's heading.
I hope you stayed with the show and didn't let that stop you! The point of that was to show how much to the edge BL is regarding his powers (we find out as the pilot progresses he hasn't been BL in a good while). One of the main people he works with is the chief of police so its very much not anti-cop. One of the more compelling premises as the show goes on is that there are shadowy agencies trying to create super people...and like it or not that's something easier to do in poorer communities. It's not meant to be divisive...that's just the way things are. Like I said I hope you give it another try (if you've walked away) because some real interesting stuff happens.

The show's good no doubt about it but for one thing the daughters are very annoying especially the eldest. I don't have a problem with the politics and race issues been addressed in fact I welcome the diversity but it can and has been tastefully done for example Luke Cage and Black Panther and that just wasn't the case here. The majority of cops who are corrupt happen to be white, the eldest daughter is a lesbian, social/political activist(all boxes checked there) and the only white person who is a good guy just so happens to not be so clean after all, on the nose doesn't even begin to cover it. Like I said overall the show is good and I enjoyed it but there were quite a few times where I rolled my eyes at some of the things they did.

I hope that she adds a new tone for this show as apparently they are going to put some outsiders vibe on this. Black Lightning and the Outsiders doesn't look bad at all.

A pretty blond white chick? 10 bucks says she's either vapid and evil, or dumb as a bag of doorknobs.
