Deadline is reporting that Courteney Cox and David Arquette are returning as their Scream franchise characters for the next Scream movie. Cox is returning as news reporter Gale Weather and Arquette is coming back as Dewey Riley.

The next Scream movie is being helmed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of the filmmaking group Radio Silence from a screenplay by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick. Shooting will take place in Wilmington, North Carolina under a Spyglass Media Group-Paramount Production.

Creator Kevin Williamson and Radio Silence group member Chad Villella, are executive producing with Project X Entertainment’s Vanderbilt, Paul Neinstein and William Sherak serving as producers.

Radio Silence told sources, “We can’t imagine Scream without the iconic Gale Weathers and are so incredibly thrilled and humbled to have the opportunity to work with Courteney. We’re absolute mega fans of her work and we’re so excited to join her in the next chapter of the Scream saga!”

The Scream franchise through four movies that began in 1996 have grossed over $600M at the global box office. The late Wes Craven directed all four movies. Williamson wrote the original film as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4.

Wow...this came from nowhere...maybe this time the murderer is infected by corona virus and everyone is trying to stay away from him

I never saw those movies either, so I was trying to figure out what slasher movie trailer I'd seen her in. Checked IMDB, and yes it was Scream 4.

Cool, like I said I don't remember much from the movie. If Alison Brie does get killed in the movie then that's unfortunate. Now that I think about it I have only seen the first Halloween movie and Halloween:H20 none of the others.

I believe she's in it, I don't remember much of the people in it, except for Emma Roberst who for some reason I dislike. Never seen any of the Halloweens from Rob Zombie, I don't hear good things regardingthem.

Didn't the fourth one have Allison Brie getting murdered, or am I thinking of one of Rob Zombie's awful Halloween movies?

Forget, "Friends," I've had a crush on Courteney since "Misfits of Science." Anybody remember the video for Springsteen's "Dancing in the Dark?" I see that fresh faced kid dancing with "The Boss" now, and wonder if ANY of us were ever really that young.

I dunno about this... I think they should have let this franchise go quite some time ago
