Warner Bros. Expecting To Reschedule The Release Of 'Dune' & 'The Batman' To Late 2021

October 05, 2020
Warner Bros. hasn't officially confirmed the following but Deadline is reporting that the release of Legendary’s Dune is no longer going on December 18th, rather October 1st, 2021. This is also the same release date for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Sources are figuring that Warner Bros. will be officially setting a new release date for this feature as well.

The first reason for the release changes are that Warrner Bros. didn't want two major tentpoles –one a franchise starter, the other a franchise sequel– within days of each other, especially with Wonder Woman 1984 still set for Christmas Day. The second reason comes with the news of Cineworld and Regal closing.

I think Wonder Woman 84 may be more cursed. It hasn't been in "develpment hell" like that Flash movie, but it's been finished and postponed more than any other big movie in recent memory (five times), and that includes New Mutants (four times). And WB likely still has at least one more delay in store for Wonder Woman.

And so The Batman is now scheduled for March 2022. I'm surprised there's been no announcement delaying Wonder Woman '84 again, yet, and I'm sure it's coming.

Yeah this seems like it was in the Air, I mean everyone is shuffling around their movies release dates to next year, it's pretty much No box blockbuster movie 2020.

my thing is what if 2021 is just as bad or worse... how long can they keep pushing all of these movies back before it's just well not feasible?,

Wow. This is so unexpected. Who could have seen this coming??

Theaters are either closed or they're not bringing in the audience numbers they need, things are totally #@$%ed, and these are expensive movies that need to make a lot of money to justify their existence to executives. I have a suspicion WW84 will be pushed back to at least the summer.
