Sources within Sony Pictures have informed Deadline that Oscar Isaac is attached to play Solid Snake in the Jordan Vogt-Roberts long awaited Metal Gear Solid adaptation. The film is based on the Metal Gear Solid video game created by Hideo Kojima and published by Konami.

The script is written by Derek Connolly with Avi Arad producing and Peter Kang executive producing for the studio.

The first game launched on PlayStation in 1998 and follows Snake, a soldier who infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit. The game has received acclaimed on many fronts but its story telling that has a cinematic feeling always made it seem like a movie adaptation was inevitable.

That's an interesting choice, I'm curious about this project. Isn't that a picture of Big Boss and not Solid Snake?

Technically yes, Metal Gear was released for NES in 1987. The first Metal Gear Solid was released in 1998 for Playstation. Semantics.
