I have to agree. I also was first introduced to Dr. Who by watching Tom Baker and I still think he was the best at portraying the character. Now IMO Jodie Whitaker reminds me a bit of the manic way that Tom Baker portrayed the Doctor. Not saying she's as good at it, just saying her portrayal reminds me more of him than anybody else except perhaps Tennant at his best.

Yeah, she can actually really shine, but she's been given mostly crap to work with. That's why I hope that Chibnall's actually the one leaving, and she's sticking around. We should find out pretty soon if those rumors are true or not, considering the only modern Doctor whose departure wasn't announced months ahead of time was Eccleston.

Its good to know that what I heard about him was wrong. I definitely enjoyed him as the doctor. Like I said, his doctor is what got me in to the series overall. I dont mind Jodie as the doctor either, it just seemed like the stories werent as fun or interesting as previous seasons.

Ecclestons run was the first time i saw new and interesting effects and interesting stories that drew me in. He was good but far from the best. It's not Whittaker's fault for the downturn of the show. Much like Ruby Rose, she was just unfortunate enough to get mixed up in a show that chose woke politics over good writing and producing. I guess it's too complicated a concept to just cast a female in a good role and leave all the preaching and editorializing for one to seek out on their own, if they so choose. But in all honesty, these "showrunners" know what they're being hired to do, so it's kinda not their fault either. It's kinda like expecting a slug not to be a slug. It's a sad thing that she might beleaving because of it, but maybe she just saw the writing on the wall and decided it was better for her career to just bow out instead of following it down the drain.

I never could get into the old DR WHO, but like Evil Hayato started watching the series with the re boot with Eccleston. You do know that they announced almost immediately after he started that Eccleston was leaving. Both Tenant and Capaldi announced their departures months ahead of their final seasons, and the BBC announced Smith's departure about five months ahead of the 50th anniversary special.If they're in the middle of contract negotiations with Whittaker, they're also not going to say anything, because she could be leaving or staying, depending on how things go.
