Netflix has released the first official teaser trailer for the forthcoming adult anime series, which is set in the post-apocalyptic "Pacific Rim" universe where human-controlled giant robots (known as Jaegers) battle giant sea monsters (known as kaiju).

While expanding the story of the first two live-action "Pacific Rim" films, "Pacific Rim: The Black" centers on two siblings (a teenage boy and a young girl) who are forced to pilot an abandoned Jaeger across a hostile Australian landscape in a desperate attempt to find their missing parents.

Produced by Legendary Entertainment, the animated series was created and written by screenwriter-producer Craig Kyle (Thor: Ragnarok) alongside his cartoon writing partner Greg Johnson (X-Men: Evolution).

"Pacific Rim: The Black" is scheduled to premiere on March 4th only on Netflix.

Netflix has released the first official trailer for the forthcoming adult anime series.

There was a time when Kaiju rose from the Pacific Rim only to encounter gigantic robots, Jaegers, built to fight them back. That time has passed. Now, Australia has been overrun by Kaiju, forcing the evacuation of an entire continent. Left behind, teenage siblings Taylor and Hayley embark on a desperate search for their missing parents, teaching themselves to pilot a battered, long-abandoned Jaeger to help in their quest and give them even the slightest hope of surviving.

I really liked the first one, second not as much, maybe this series will be good.

Sadly, this is turning into a growing trend with Netflix. Snag a played-out franchise, and "expand the story" with a generic, torture porny anime.

Ugh nah... The sequel was a mess of an affair, I don't think I can look at Pacific Rim the same, it lost it's redeem-ability, even the first movie had far too many tough moments to swallow. I can't help but be saddened that the franchise got so blundered when it could have been amazing really.

Okay, I get the old "Young Heroes Pilot Found Mecha" is one of the more popular tropes in anime/manga, and I've only seen the first Pacific Rim (and that was a while back), but I'm pretty sure Jaegerss didn't work like that.

Im down for this. I really enjoy pacific rim and this could make an excellent netflix anime. It definitely has some potential to be really good.
