In what might be considered another sign that the world of action figure collecting is becoming more mainstream, Netflix has released a promotional spot for their new FUBAR series that stars Arnold Schwarzenegger as a CIA agent on the verge of retirement who ends up having to work with his daughter who to his surprise is also a CIA agent. I watched the first season this weekend and overall I thought it was enjoyable.
In this new promotional spot Netflix has release on social media to promote the show, we can see they have re-created what looks to be an 80's toy commercial using a fictional action figure based on Arnold's character from the show. No, as far as I know there are no actual FUBAR based action figures being released, but it's a funny commercial never-the-less. Of course Schwarzenegger is no stranger to the world of action figures having had multiple figures done from companies like NECA and Super7 for other characters he has played over the years.
In the series one of the supporting characters is depicted as a major action figure collector as well and during the series we get a glimpse at his apartment that is filled with stuff like modern Hasbro Transformers. Todd McFarlane also gets mentioned by name for his work on Amazing Spider-Man. Just another sign of how all this "Geeky" stuff is becoming more and more mainstream everyday.
