James Gunn, the co-head of DC Studios, has confirmed that Matt Reeves is expanding The Batman universe and working on a series set within the new DC Universe.
Gunn responded to fans on social media and shared that Reeves is producing an Arkham series, which takes place in the Batman universe. When asked about other projects in the "Batverse," Gunn confirmed that currently, there are only two projects: The Batman: Part II and the Penguin series, in addition to the Arkham series.
Gunn praised Reeves as a director and producer, mentioning that he will be involved in storytelling within his own Batman universe and the broader DCU. Gunn clarified that the Arkham series was always intended to be part of the DCU, not the Elseworlds alternate universe. He also revealed that the concept for the Arkham series was one of the first pitches they bought when he and Peter Safran joined the project.
