Steve Yockey, the creator behind the popular Max series "The Flight Attendant," has been announced as the new screenwriter for Star Trek 4.

While specific details about the story are being kept secret, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot are determined to make this film the ultimate conclusion for the cast that revitalized the franchise on the big screen with the 2009 film "Star Trek." This includes returning actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldaņa, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Simon Pegg, who portrayed their iconic characters.

Sorry, I usually count those as TNG. Definitely didn't mean to omit them (and who can forget the Tom Paris episode of Lower Decks).

The people behind Lower Decks clearly love TOS and TNG. They have a deep reverence for Trek that shows through their teasing. You can also hear it if you ever hear Mariner and Boimler on podcasts, etc.

Until Lower Decks I felt the same way. But I can't help but enjoy that show. Of course it's meant to be kind of a parody so it's not really the same type of enjoyment.

It's funny how as a comedy and semi-parody like Lower Decks actually has more respect for and a better understanding of what came before it than any other live action Trek this century (and yes, I'm including Strange New Worlds and Enterprise, which I actually liked in it's fourth season).

Star Trek ended with Voyager's finale. Everything after that is just CBS alternate universe fanfic with "Star Trek" scotch taped to it like some cheap piece of crap.

I was sure I saw somewhere that one or more of the actors didn't want to return since Anton Yelchin's death
