Deadline has received confirmation from sources that Jeff Bridges will be reprising his role in Tron: Ares, marking his third appearance in the enduring sci-fi series produced by Disney.
The actor disclosed the information during a recent interview on the Film Comment podcast. “I’m heading off this Saturday to play a part in the third installment of the ‘Tron’ story. Jared Leto is the star of this third one. I’m really anxious to work with him; I’ve admired his work.”
TRON: Ares delves into the captivating story of Ares, an exceptionally advanced Program, who embarks on a perilous mission from the digital realm to the real world. This venture serves as humanity's inaugural encounter with artificial intelligence entities.
The Tron series began with the groundbreaking 1982 film titled after the same name, featuring Jeff Bridges as the video game designer Kevin Flynn.
The cast of TRON: Ares includes Jared Leto, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan, and Gillian Anderson. Joachim Rønning is set to direct the film from a script by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne.
