“Superman,” DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief in the goodness of humankind.

DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn are producing the film, which Gunn directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

The film stars David Corenswet (“Twisters,” “Hollywood”) in the dual role of Superman/Clark Kent, Rachel Brosnahan (“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”) as Lois Lane and Nicholas Hoult (the “X-Men” movies, “Juror #2”) as Lex Luthor. The film also stars Edi Gathegi (“For All Mankind”), Anthony Carrigan (“Barry,” “Gotham”), Nathan Fillion (the “Guardians of the Galaxy” films, “The Suicide Squad”), Isabela Merced (“Alien Romulus”), Skyler Gisondo (“Licorice Pizza,” “Booksmart”), Sara Sampaio (“At Midnight”), María Gabriela de Faría (“The Moodys”),
Wendell Pierce (“Selma,” “Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan”), Alan Tudyk (“Andor”), Pruitt Taylor Vince (“Bird Box”) and Neva Howell (“Greedy People”).

“Superman” is executive produced by Nikolas Korda, Chantal Nong Vo and Lars Winther. Behind the camera, Gunn is joined by frequent collaborators, including director of photography Henry Braham, production designer Beth Mickle, costume designer Judianna Makovsky and composer John Murphy, along with composer David Fleming (“The Last of Us”), editors William Hoy (“The Batman”), Jason Ballantine (the “IT” films, “The Flash”) and Craig Alpert (“Deadpool 2,” “Blue Beetle”).

DC Studios Presents a Troll Court Entertainment/The Safran Company Production, A James Gunn Film, “Superman,” which will be in theaters and IMAX® nationwide on July 11, 2025, and internationally beginning 9 July 2025, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Ha! Still no Lois. I still think Lois is the #3 character in this movie, but the marketing is really mistreating her.

Warner Bros. and DC Comics have released the first full teaser trailer for the upcoming Superman movie directed by James Gunn and staring David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman.

these trailers since this one came out have gotten better and better. As much as I'm sore that Cavill is gone I'm intrigued by this movie.

In theaters on July 11, 2025.

That Hawkgirl costume looks like it is from a CW show. Frankly, the CW one's helmet looked better... Mr Terrific is OK, but then again his costume was always very simple.

Guy is... weird. I dunno, Nathan Fillion is just not the type I see as Guy. He should be rough looking like a brawler but Guy is also a rogue and a joker. Also, his costume has too much white in it.

I really dislike Hawkgirls eyes not being white. The fact you can see part of her eyebrow makes it look like a kids roleplay helmet.

Lois Lane needs a better agent. I'm betting Hawkgirl is in the movie for like 2 minutes and she got a poster, but Lois didn't.

Did you notice that they changed the scene where Superman gets hit from behind, in the last version he blinks, but not in this one. I guess the makers figured it out - if Brandon Routh didn't blink when he was shot in the eye with a gun, he shouldn't blink here (and they fixed it). I do like that they used John Williams' tunes like John Ottman in 2006.

Seems like there are too many characters being introduced at once. That is my only take away from the trailer. Hope the pacing makes sense.

Agree. Its great that they want to show that Superman is not the only superhero around, but for a first outing, they need to focus on him. This is one of the things that, in my view, really hurt the Black Lightning tv show. Way too much time spent on other characters in the show instead of the main man. And considering this was his first starring TV show, and that he is DC's first black superheroto headline his own series, he should have gotten his due. Superman of course has been around for 80 years or so but in this "first" outing, even he doesn't need to share the spotlight with other super characters. They can easily allude to other existing heroes via news clips, video excerpts, etc.

I hear you, but point in fact....the studio WILL care if you don't see it. They reportedly spent over $300 million, so yeah, they're gonna wanna see a return on that.

The origins of superheroes are often their best stories too. And certainly make for the most coherent films.
