It's Wednesday and you know what that means... ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at wrestling figures, from the different Jazwares AEW lines: 3 figures (half) from AEW Unmatched Series 2, and 3 (half) from AEW Unrivaled Series 8. Since we are over 10 waves deep in the AEW figure lines, I have started to pick and choose, rather than buy entire waves, due to lack of space and will skip some figures when the wrestlers have already been done (unless they are a huge improvement on the previous one). Luckily, half of each of the latest 2 waves were 'first figures', so I made my own wave out of that. Yay!
Unmatched Series 2 had Sting, Tay Conti and Wardlow which I wanted to pick, along with new versions of MJF, Santana and Ortiz, which I skipped. First, Wardlow... "This is Waaaaaar..."
Wardlow comes with an extra head sculpt and extra hands, which is pretty great. It's not often that we get another head with the figure, especially nice ones like that, so i'll take it! The only thing bothering me with that figure is that Wardlow is a bit more of a beast than the figure is, so I would have given him slightly bigger arms or chest. He still looks pretty impressive next to the other figures. I cannot wait for Wardlow to inevitably turn on MJF!
Tay Conti is another first figure ever. The Brazilian judoka also comes with an extra head, with a different hairstyle. The female figures from the Jazwares AEW lines have been pretty great. It started rough (Brandi, Riho...), but the last few (Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker, Tay Conti and Kris Statlander) have been great figures. Looking forward to get Tay's tag team partner, Anna Jay, in Unmatched Series 3.
Last but not least from Unmatches Series 2, IT'S STIIIIIIIING! Now, that is a figure that I have been dreaming of since 1999. I know, there has been many Sting figures available, but the Toy Biz WCW ones were not amazing, the Mattel WWE ones were pretty meh (something off about the makeup, or the vinyl bathrobe they had him wearing...). That Sting figure is next level though. He comes with a black bat (duh!), and the jacket is removable. It is the ultimate Sting figure...for now! If the next ones will be improvements of this one, the future is bright for fans of the Stinger.
Unrivaled Series 8 had the first ever figures of the Best Friends, Chuck Taylor, Trent(?) and Kris Statlander, along with a new Orange Cassidy (which completes the faction), a new Chris Jericho and a new Jon Moxley, which I passed on.
The Best Friends cannot be separated so they will be reviewed together. Trent and Kris Statlander look awesome, but Chuck Taylor's figure looks a bit "My name is Jeff". His headsculpt is a bit brutal, and the head looks like it is slightly too big. They all come with minimal accessories: Chuck Taylor has a vest, Trent has a jacket, and Statlander has... nothing. Trent's jacket is one of those wrestling figure jackets where it's made of hard rubber and the figure can barely move when wearing it. Why did that ever become a thing? The Best Friends are finally reunited with Orange Cassidy who came out in Unrivaled Series 3.
Also, no Bill Murray on Trent's kneepad 😕 (completely understandable, of course).

The next wave, Unmatched Series 3, is spotlighting the Dark Order, with Brodie Lee, Evil Uno, Stu Grayson, John Silver and Anna Jay. Looking forward to get my hands on that one!
