After years of complaining about
toy swappers ruining it for everyone, and months of complaining about the
windowless packaging making it easier for them, several toy companies are allegedly considering going back to
one of the world's most hated creation: the
Clamshell Packaging. Remember those? The kind that needed a
can opener or
scissors to open? The ones that spilled a lot of
blood when we thought we wouldn't need tools to open them? Well...
they're coming back!
A reliable source from within the toy industry told
ToyFarce that all the major toy companies have had enough of getting their toys stolen by
swappers, who open the boxes, replace the figures with cheaper, older toys, and
bring them back to the stores for a refund. "
It's time to bring back a very dangerous weapon" said our source. "
The days of people taking advantages of our nice cardboard boxes or windowless packaging are over! If you see someone leaving the toy section with blood and cuts all over their hands, you'll know that he tried to swap a figure! It's a shame that it had to get to that point, and we are sorry for our loyal customers who are honest, but modern problems require modern solutions."
Do you have any
fond memories of opening those and getting cuts everywhere?

"The first wave will consist of Doc, Lifeline, Ratchet and the Medical Droid" - told one of the Hasbro sources. "Of course some chase variants will have small medipacks, which will include a small scissor, and bondage for cosplay lovers."
If only. I'll gladly go back to busting out some scissors if it means foiling swappers en masse.
I still don't understand why Hasbro won't just utilize some sort of tamper-proof sticker that would make it very obvious that something's been opened.
I would totally support this.
