It's
Wednesday and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at some recent
McFarlane Toys figures: the
DC Multiverse Batman and Spawn two-pack, and the
BigBadToyStore Exclusive Spawn Universe Spawn (Black and White Accent Edition). I hesitated to even open these, since they kinda looked cool in their respective boxes, but I have no space to display them in the boxes either, so had to #
LetEmBreathe!
First, the
DC Multiverse Batman and Spawn two-pack. Fresh off the heels of the (
slightly disappointing)
Batman/Spawn crossover comic book that came out in december last year,
McFarlane Toys announced a two-pack, which makes complete sense, since they have the DC license and own Spawn.
It's as if the comic book just existed to sell action figures... *mindblown!* The 2 figures are pretty good, considering there is a plethora of
Batman and
Spawn figures, and they could have picked worse ones. My only issue with the 2 pack is the
Batman screaming head, which makes it look like he just stubbed his toe really hard constantly. A second head with a more '
standard' expression would have been welcome (even one we already have).

Batman comes with
2 extra hands and a
batarang, and
Spawn comes with a
huge sword. Also included are a
backdrop with a
base to hold it, along with
2 trading cards and
2 stands (one DC and one Spawn). The
Batman figure re-uses the body of the
Year 2 figure, I believe, with a different cape and head, while the
Spawn is the same as the one as the
throne set one, with a way better cape.

The
Spawn Universe Spawn (Black and White Accent Edition), which is limited to 3000 and was exclusive to
BigBadToyStore was a total impulse buy. I didn't really have a need for a "
How it feels to chew 5 gums" edition of Spawn, but I was browsing the internet when it dropped, saw that it was limited, succumbed to FOMO and grabbed it, and it was shipped really soon after that. It comes in a special '
collector' box with great art on the back. The figure comes with
chain accessories, a
collectible art card with a
stand, and a
stand for the figure.

The figure uses the same mold as the
Mortal Kombat Shadow of Spawn figure, but only using black with green '
accents' (
there's not really any white on the figure, so not sure why it's called black and white accent...). I'll admit it looks really cool. It has a great shelf presence. The chains can be attached in his back, under the cape, to flow freely on the sides. The only thing that would have made that figure a complete win would be if the green highlights glowed in the dark.
