It's
Wednesday, and you know what that means:
ToyFarce review!
This week, we're having a look at more
TMNT: The Last Ronin action figures from
NECA. This time, the figures of
Leonardo,
Splinter, the '
First to Fall' version of
Raphael, along with
Casey Jones.
Leo,
Splinter and 'bloody'
Raph were available through the
NECA official store (and still are), while
Casey Jones was available during
Walmart's Collector Con in March, and is now available everywhere.
Leonardo, just like the
Raphael figure before him, is a deceptively great figure. He also looks bulky but can get into awesome poses. He comes with
2 heads,
3 extra pairs of hands, his
katanas and
throwing knives that attach to his belt. One of the heads looks like he's pondering about what toppings to have on his pizza. Now, we just need
Donatello and
Michelangelo for the brothers to be reunited...
Talking about the brothers, they wouldn't be anything without their master,
Splinter, which is also a great figure.
Splinter comes with
7 extra hands,
2 extra forearm parts (with torn sleeves), a
katana with
sheath and a
staff. He has a bendy
tail, and like a lot of NECA Splinter figures before him (
movie one, mirage one) he isn't ideal in terms of articulations and posing, but still does look great, and is an
integral part if you want to have the turtles with their master. The
colors are really nice and the head sculpt looks like it was taken right out of the pages of the comic book.
The '
First to Fall' version of
Raphael is essentially the same figure as the
Raphael from the previous 'wave', but closer to when he...
fell. Like a
battle damaged version (
whatever happened to battle damaged versions of toys? We used to have lots of them...). He comes with the bloody version of the
2 heads, 3 extra pairs of
hands, his
sais, and
8 arrows. The figure is covered in its own blood and has several holes in which you can attach all the arrows that come with it (
Yay!). When all the arrows are in, the figure is like a
porcupine and is impossible to display (
or needs lots of space around it). I'm terrified of it falling and breaking all the arrows, but I do like having both options, though!
Finally,
Casey Jones is ...
better than I thought he'd be? From the promo pics, he looked like a pretty basic
Casey figure, but in hand, it's a fun figure. I joked that the unmasked head looked like
Walton Goggins, but not that much, in the end. He comes with
2 heads (masked, unmasked), extra
hands, a
mask, a
golf bag, an alternate
back attachment with
2 baseball bats, a
hockey stick, a
sledgehammer, a
cricket bat... You know, the usual
Casey Jones weapons of choice!
The next figures in the
Last Ronin line should be
Donatello and
Michelangelo, which have been revealed before. There is also a
2-pack with 2
Synja patrol bots available right now during the
Target Haulathon event.
