San Diego Comic Con 2024 has come and gone, and with it came a plethora of new awesome reveals and announcements. One of the most controversial announcements of the weekend could be the casting of one of
Marvel's best villains,
Doctor Doom, which will see
Robert Downey Jr. come back to the
Marvel Cinematic Universe to portray the character. A few seconds after the announcement, a loud '
POP' could be heard all over the world, as thousands of collector reached for their
Doctor Doom action figures and popped out their heads to replace them with a
Tony Stark one, in order to be the first to post a picture of it online...

Enthusiastic fans have taken to social media to share their creations, uploading photos of a regal
Doctor Doom body topped with the unmistakable likeness of
Robert Downey Jr. "
I'll admit I did it too" admitted a fan and collector who was following the Marvel panel from SDCC online. "
The second RDJ removed his mask on the stage, a connection in my brain was made and I looked at my Marvel Legends Doctor Doom and Iron Man figures, and immediately removed Doom's head. It was like an out-of-body experience. I didn't control it, yet it had to be done. I've heard several collectors say they had the same experience."

Latverian ambassador. "
It took only a few seconds after the announcement. That deafening 'POP' sound... My heart goes to all the poor Doctor Doom action figures who now have to wear a Robert Downey Jr head sculpt... A sad day for our country."
Word on the streets is that
Marvel Legends and
Mezco Doctor Doom figures were among the highest number of removed heads. A few
Marvel Select Doctor Doom and even one
Mattel Secret War figure were also among the casualties.
