HasLab’s highly anticipated
Giant-Man figure has started arriving on our doorsteps, and he came with a stare that no one was expecting: Multiple collectors are reporting that their super-sized
Giant-Man figures arrived with duplicate side-glancing eyes, giving the entire figure a
slightly judgmental expression no matter where you’re standing. And
Marvel Legends fans? Well, they’re giving
Hasbro a bit of
side-eye themselves...
ToyFarce investigated.
The epic
Haslab Giant Man figure, towering at a
scale-appropriate 24 inches, and funded by fans to celebrate
Marvel Comics' 60th anniversary of the Avengers, is a stunning figure that was expected to come with several set of eyes, including front-facing eyes. However, when collectors started unboxing their eagerly awaited figures, a few of them were greeted with a sideways stare that says, "
Are you really spending this much on action figures?"
"
It’s like he’s looking at my entire collection and judging me!" lamented Adam, a longtime
Marvel Legends collector. "
Or worse, like he’s eyeing the other Giant Man figure from 2006 I have on the shelf and feeling superior to it!"
Rumors are swirling that there may be a
secret conspiracy behind this strange stare: Toy experts across the board have noted that that particular feature used to be a signature from
Todd McFarlane, notorious for his long history of figures with dramatic
side eyes. Fans have now begun to wonder if
Todd secretly infiltrated the
HasLab team to add a little “
McFarlane flair” to their otherwise straightforward
Giant Man. "
Look, if there’s one thing Todd taught us, it’s that side-eyes give action figures attitude. Why settle for just ‘big’? Giant Man can be judgmental too!"
In all seriousness, it is simply a
QC issue, and
Hasbro has already replied to several collectors that replacement eyes will be on their way
mid-november.
Good thing the toy community never overreacts, especially when it comes to Hasbro products, right?
More news at 11:00... For all the collectors who find themselves suddenly feeling judged by their new acquisition:
Just remember, it’s not you... it’s Giant Man.
