Happy MAR10 Day everybody! Every year, March 10th, or
MAR10, is the day of celebration of the
Super Mario franchise. One avid toy collector took the opportunity to come forward with a problem of his, living in a real-life
Luigi's Mansion scenario, thanks to the
Jakks Pacific Super Mario figure whose eyes seem to keep following him everywhere.
ToyFarce investigated...
Jakks Pacific's line of
Super Mario Bros. Movie figures, released in conjunction with the film in 2023, boasted innovative features like "
realistic acrylic eyes" designed to capture the characters' lifelike expressions. These eyes, crafted with clear plastic lenses over painted irises, create an illusion that some collectors have found...
unsettling.
The collector in question, who wished to remain anonymous (
perhaps fearing retribution from the Mushroom Kingdom?), describes the experience: "
At first, I thought it was a neat feature. But then, I started noticing Mario's eyes following me everywhere around the room. Whether I'm working at my desk or watching TV, I can't shake the feeling that he's watching me. And he is!"
"
I even tried turning him to face the wall..." he continues, "
...but somehow, those eyes still find a way to peer into my soul. It's like he's silently judging me..." Fellow collectors have chimed in on online forums, sharing similar experiences. One user wrote "
I had to move mine to a different room. Every time I walked by, I felt like he was about to challenge me to a kart race!"
Despite the unintended creepiness, these figures have become a hot commodity among fans and collectors alike. Some have even embraced the eerie effect, placing
Mario in various spots around their homes to surprise unsuspecting guests! As for our haunted collector, he's considering adding a
Luigi figure to his collection, hoping that
Mario's loyal brother might keep the red-hatted plumber in check. "
... Or maybe I'll just invest in some display case with tinted glass..." he mused.
In the meantime, he advises potential buyers to be aware of what they're getting into: "
These figures are fantastic in terms of quality and detail. Just be prepared for Mario to keep an eye on you at all times... literally."

and remember: even when you're not playing the game, Mario might still be watching!
