GI Joe 25th Ann. Wave 9 Snow Serpent

Package Description
SNOW SERPENTS are the Arctic Specialist branch of the COBRA EEL unit (COBRA frogmen). They must undergo the same rigorous training program as COBRA EEL troops with the addition of a six-month cold weather course somewhere above the Arctic Circle. Other aspect of their training include airborne operations (under arctic conditions), anti-tank procedures and the use of snowshoes, skis and kayaks.

Appearance
Snow Serpent appears to have a new sculpt, or at least some new parts. There are details all over the figure, from the pieces of fur, to the bulky arctic clothing. Hasbro truly had an attention to detail in this figure, because the arms and legs and torso are wider than on other figures for the winter clothing. In the package art a darker blue is used though. Overall the figure reproduces the character faithfully, with minor differences that I easily overlook.

The proportions and size of the figure are good. Because of all the straps and fur, there are no obvious or ugly joints on the figure. Some paint on his weapons could have gone a long way because they’re both a dull grey. They fit naturally in his hands, as the snow shoes fit naturally on his feet. A group of these figures will look nice if you can find them, but he also looks fine alone because of all the details on the figure. Overall, the Snow Serpent may not have some of the cooler attributes of some figures, but his sculpt quality will hold up with any figure in this line.

Articulation
The Snow Serpent has standard articulation for the 25th Anniversary line. The head can’t really move up and down at all, but can move side to side. The elbows bend less than 90 degrees. The torso doesn’t move a whole lot because of all the straps on his body. His balance with the snow shoes on is excellent.

Poseability

The Snow Serpent looks like it will look good solo or in a group. The range of motion is a little limited, but he can do some good shooting poses. He fits right into a collection even by himself. He looks good enough to me to be posed fighting Snow Job by himself. Overall, he’s a fairly standard figure.

Final Judgment: 6
The Snow Serpent has a great sculpt with a lot of detail, although he could use a little more paint. He’s got a lot of the straps and pouches that make this line look good. Overall the only thing that makes him unique is the winter gear, but this is still a good figure to have. Their may be a lack of other figures in winter gear to pose him with though.

I was lucky enough to find the whole series yesterday at Wal-Mart, unfortunately some guy let his little kid pick out two action figures and one of them was the BAT!!! If only I was there 5 minutes sooner. Anyway, I could do with or without the black storm shadow but the rest of this series is AWESOME!! I think the only reuse of parts is Barbeques body, arms, and upper legs which were Wild Weasles. All have great looks, detail, and articulation. All are sturdy and the accessories are awesome. I will be picking up plenty of all of these figures... Good job Hasbro!!

Barbeque also uses WW's torso, but the glued on tank makes it hard to tell.
