Package Description
G.I. JOE HAWK was the original field commander of the G.I. JOE team before he got his General’s star and was booted upstairs to honcho the entire G.I. JOE operation. He’s a West Point graduate and has a list of special education credits as long as his arm, but he still managed to get the main body of his experience out there where it counts – on the battlefield.
Appearance
Hawk has a very clean cut, military brass kind of feel that isn’t common to a lot of figures. The dark brown jacket and rank insignias set this figure apart from others. The visual attention grabbers on this figure are the rank insignia and white collar, which contrast with the brown jacket. The chest details are excellently done, including the nametag. The chest details are the only real noteworthy details though, but they make the appearance of this figure work very well.
The size and proportions of the figure are generally good. The torso joint is a little ugly and stands out, but that’s the only real problem. The paint on the helmet goggles is also a little sloppy. The face also looks a too generic. Overall though this figure is excellently made, and looks like the leader he is when standing next to other Joes.
Articulation
The articulation is standard for this line. The elbows can’t bend 90 degrees, but the knees can bend a large amount. The range of motion and balance is pretty standard for figures of this body type.
Poseability
Balance is ok on this figure. He looks good by himself, but goes best with other Joes like Duke. He needs more elbow movement to look his best holding his pistol, but he does ok. Hawk doesn’t really do dynamic poses well. Overall though he fits very well in a Joe collection.
Final Judgment: 7
The appearance is what gets Hawk high marks. While the body is fairly standard in terms of sculpting, the color scheme and markings go a long way visually. Despite his generic body, Hawk manages to stand out in a crowd, and for that, he deserves a score of “excellent.”
