Masters of the Universe Prince Adam Figure Review

Alex (Prince Adam on the ADC boards) sends us a review of the new Masters of the Universe Prince Adam figure from Mattel.

Overview:

Today I will be reviewing one of the latest figures from Mattel's Masters of the Universe line, Prince Adam. To begin this figure is just short of the Teela figure of the same line. Which in my opinion is much better than than a He-Man repaint. People have said before that his face resembles that of Luke Skywalker, but I find the eyes to be the most distracting. Also in the show Adam's hair is bit more messy, much like the He-Man figure, however, the figure's hair is much more neat. The vest and belt are made of soft plastic and I think the vest could carefully be removed. As far as paint applications Mattel seems to be pretty good. A few messes here and there, specifically around the boot tops and the pouch on his left leg. Also I think the eyes on this figure look funny in general. On to articulation.

Articulation/Battle Feature(s):

Basic Masters articulation here. Ball joint legs and shoulders, wrists (at the glove), head, waist (battle feature). His left leg does move back and forth very well, so he can't really sit. He has the same battle action as He-Man and Teela, much like the original's. But apparently this where the voice chips have stopped as neither Adam, Sy-Klone, or Martial Arts He-Man have one. The bottom of his right foot is simply smoothed over, whereas previous Masters figures had the rectangular chip showing.

Weapons/accessories:

Prince Adam comes with his trusty Power Sword (of course) and a launching scepter, or 'missile-firing staff' as the package describes. The Power Sword is scaled down, and painted silver but no green highlights or a painted "H" symbol. The scepter itself is blue and comes with a yellow 'casing'. The end of it sticks out of the bottom so that you can flick it out with your finger. Yay! An interesting note, the scepter was actually in the show, though I believe it was grey. It was in the first episode before gets his Power Sword and powers.

Conclusion:

This figure is an absolute must for both kids and collectors. You have to have Prince Adam if you have He-Man. And for the $8 this figure will cost you (assuming you find one in stores) he's very nice. This line only seems to be getting better and better. My biggest complaint about him is that he can't hold the Power Sword over his head with both hands. Hope you've enjoyed my review!
