Package Description
Who is Doctor Impossible? On the surface, he appears to be a dark, mirror-image of Mister Miracle. Where Mister Miracle is aided in his fight against evil by a personal super-computer known as Mother Box, Doctor Impossible accomplishes his evil deeds with the help of his “Father Box.” Doctor Impossible claims to be Mister Miracle’s brother from Apokolips. Origins aside, Doctor Impossible remains a formidable foe and disturbing flipside to the powers of Mister Miracle.
Appearance
Dr. Impossible has mostly re-used parts with a few tweaks such as the glove cuffs. The paint on this figure is very clean and doesn’t seem to suffer from some of the problems from previous series. There are a few minor sculpt differences with Mr. Miracle which look like they are just tweaks of his sculpt. However the color scheme is very interesting and helps him stand apart from other figures. The drawback is the dark colors hide many of the sculpt details that make this line look great. He definitely conveys the power of a villain though, and is a good contrast to Mr. Miracle.
The proportions are good, and the joints are well hidden. The cape helps his upper body not look overly muscular. He doesn’t have as interesting a face sculpt as other figures in this line because of the mask. Because of the character design, he looks good on display by himself or with other figures though.
Articulation
The articulation is standard for the line. The head looks up a little ways. His torso can bend forward well, but is blocked by the cape going backward. The cape limits some motion in the legs too, but other than that Dr. Impossible gets full range of motion.
Poseability
Balance is surprisingly good considering the stiff cape on his back. The dark colors help him do dynamic poses a bit better than Mr. Miracle. The dark colors emphasize his body outline and make him look good posing. Just standing on display, he needs someone of a lighter color to stand next to for a good contrast. He looks good on display, and can do what you would expect of him.
Final Judgment: 7
The character design makes Dr. Impossible a nice addition to the villain shelf. There’s not much that could be improved on this figure. He’s a solid choice and recommended for anyone who likes the design. There’s not a lot special about the sculpt though if you’re looking for something special.
