Package Description
When a mortally wounded Firestorm (Ronnie Raymond) fell from the sky, he cascaded Jason Rusch in atomic energies. Jason thus bonded with the “Firestorm Matrix” and gained the ability to fuse his body with others. Eventually Jason merged with Professor Martin Stein, original host of the Firestorm Matrix to carry on the mantle of Firestorm.
Appearance
Firestorm has the same body as Ronnie Firestorm except the knee attachments. The costume is comic accurate, and I really like their use of translucent plastic for the flames on the head. The flames are different from Ronnie’s to help him stand apart, but have the same visual effect. There are a few more details on this figure than most DCUC figures. The wrinkled sleeves and straps are sculpted on, and the paint in these areas is generally clean. What really defines this figure’s appearance though is the alternating colors, textures, and shapes. For this, the color transitions are very clean and he has a paint wash on the torso and legs. The areas that are molded in the right color have paint washes to make the figure look great.
Jason’s proportions and height are standard for this line, and he fits in well with the other figures. The face sculpt has big lips, and sharp nose, and excellent skin tone. The joints are well hidden on this figure, except on the shoulders where there’s a large gap between the shoulder and bicep. Watch out for switched biceps on this figure. Mine came with the two pieces switched, and I fixed the problem after I took pictures. Overall I’m happy with the look of the figure. Like Ronnie, Jason is a great figure and goes well with the Justice League.
Articulation
The articulation points are standard for this line. For some reason the head does not look up at all even though there should be nothing preventing it. The range of motion in the arms is slightly limited in the arms by the shoulder pads, but the elbows and knees bend a full 90 degrees. The torso can bend back very far, but not forward much. For the most part Firestorm has standard articulation and range of motion; the only problem I have with him is the head being able to look up.
Poseability
The torso and head are the only real problems I’ve had with poseability. The combination makes it hard to do some poses, but I think Firestorm fans will be able to do their most wanted poses. Firestorm had no problems with balance for me. Ronnie looks good with other characters and by himself, but I wasn’t sure who to pose him with except the Justice League. Overall he’ll fit in well into a collection, especially since in a group the awesome translucent flames on his head will help him stand out from the crowd.

Jason doesn’t stand out quite as much as Ronnie, but he’s still an excellent figure on the display shelf. The face sculpt is one of the better ones, and the paint application is one of the best in this line. Overall Jason is an excellent figure, but may not stand out enough to have Ronnie and Jason as Firestorm.
