Package Description
Len Snart began his criminal career by concocting a ray gun designed to interfere with the Flash’s superspeed. Instead, the weapon became irradiated accidentally, its emissions instantly freezing moisture in the air. Thus armed with his new Cold-Gun, Snart adopted the stylized parka of Captain Cold, a supervillain specializing in thefts and freezing solid any would be pursuers, including the Scarlet Speedster.
Appearance 9/10
Captain Cold has a new sculpt the fits well his comic book appearance. He isn’t muscular looking at all, and he’s also noticeably shorter than The Flash. There are lots of details sculpted into the body, like the ripples and waves in his gear. There are even treads on the bottom of his feet and individually sculpted teeth. For a new sculpt, there is a very large amount of detail that went into making this figure. In addition there is a black wash on the blue areas, and a white wash on the trim of his uniform. The alternating textures, in part thanks to the two different paint washes, make this a very interesting figure visually.
The proportions are good, and stylistically he fits in with all the DCUC figures. He could have used a little more neck though. In addition the same color grey should have been used around his neck as is on the boots and gloves. Overall though Captain Cold matches his comic book appearance extremely well and looks excellent next to The Flash.
Articulation 7/10
The articulation points are standard for this line. He gets standard range of motion everywhere except the torso and the head. Both joints move hardly at all. While Cold isn’t the most agile character, these two joints are fairly essential. In addition the chest piece limits the shoulder rotation slightly.
Poseability 9/10
Cold looks good posing and firing his gun, but he is harder to put in dynamic poses than a lot of other figures. Cold is most likely going to be limited to being posed firing his gun, or just standing next to Flash or some other Rogues when they are made. He does what he’s supposed to, he looks good fighting Flash, but in general he’s not as much a versatile figure.
Final Judgment: 25/30
Captain Cold looks really nice on display despite the few problems he has. It is obvious a lot of work was put into the figure, even though the costume makes some limitations on poseability. Overall he’s a good figure to have, especially to fight Flash, but not very essential.
