Appearance
Batman uses mostly the wave 1 Batman body with new forearms and head. The head is smaller than most figures like Green Lantern, which over emphasizes the size of the chest. The rest of the body is proportionate and fits in well with DC Universe figures. The head makes this figure rather unique. It has been evident over the last few waves the Four Horsemen have been trying to do more facial expressions on their DC Universe figures. The nice thing about this Batman head is that it can be easily transferred to other black Batman figures for an angry Batman. The facial expression lends itself to fighting poses, whether fighting Green Lantern or his standard enemies.
The paint application is clean but the transitions could stand to be a little sharper. There is a small amount of paint wash in the yellow areas to avoid a flat plastic look. The black tends to soften all the sculpt details, so this figure’s look depends heavily on the contrast between the black and yellow. The look works well as the pointed ears and cape compliment the uniform design. Overall this is a well executed figure, but could have benefited from a smaller upper body or slightly larger head.
Articulation
Batman has standard DC Universe articulation the same as the other Batmen from this line. The cape limits some of the range of motion in the legs and upper body. The head cannot look up or down at all, and functions like a swivel.
Posing
Balance has improved from wave 1, with the cape having only minor effects on the center of balance. He poses well with the batarang construct or without. The flat paint colors clash some with modern Hal Jordan, but in action poses this is not as much of an issue. Next to other Batmen he stands out but does add variety. Overall he probably will do best with a flight stand, because the cape limits his movement on the ground.
Closing Remarks
Sinestro Corps Batman is an interesting addition to the Batman gallery, but I won’t be sure how good of an addition until this costume shows up in a story line. He’s a solid figure who fits in well with other lanterns, but it may be worth holding out for Batman collectors. The overall quality is a little better than average for the line, but he’s definitely not the best Batman figure out there.
