G.I.Joe Collector Club Subscription NANO B.A.T. Image

August 19, 2011
The G.I.Joe Collector Club has released a new image for their upcoming subscription NANO B.A.T. figure. This figure will follow the Service Z Force Quarrel figure we showed you last week. The figures are said to cost in the neighborhood of $25 each. Here are the other details we learned earlier this week about how the subscription service will work.

•The Club will soon be offering an add-on service to Officer Level Members which will be a Figure Subscription Service. This will be an additional charge to your paid Club Officer Level Membership.

•The Figure Subscription will be 2 carded figures shipped every month for 6 months for a total of 12. Subscribers will receive a 13th figure FREE at the end if the subscription period.

•Figure Subscriptions will only be available to Officer Level (paid) members for a limited time. After the cutoff date, no more subscriptions will be sold for that period of figure mailings.

•The Figure Subscription and Club Membership are TWO different things and you MUST be an active Officer Level member in order to be eligible for the Figure Subscription.

•The 12 figures will be known when the Figure Subscription window opens, but the 13th figure will be a secret. (We hope.) Don't tell when you get yours!

That's why I'm sticking to MOTUC these days. At least I know what I'm getting from Mattel, and most of their stuff has been pretty great, and stuff we haven't seen in 20+ years, or stuff we have never seen at all.

GI Joe just seems to keep going stale. I've pretty much just decided to stick with my vintage Joe collection...and just buy the occasional figure that grabs my interest.

I hear ya Darth Joe, I wish I had the money for the MOTU stuff its all been very kewlll. I was able to snag the MOTU/DC 2 packs at TRU just Supes/Heman & Lex/Marc Anthony I mean Skeletor butttt I have yet to see the Aquaman/Merman and the other? My toy fix itches for those sets, but ToY GoDs willing in time oh yes they will be mines.....oopps reposted rattss darn technology I'm sure somebody will fix as I don't know how to delete my past and post......thanx

This sub deal makes the Voltron sub more appealing.

At a time of deep economic instability, charging club members an extra 25 per fig seems outrageous especially when they're not that spectacular. Repaints and rehashes don't really merit that great of want for me. I even passed on quite a few figs of the POC line as it seems like every new season we get the same old 5 guys rehashed to death, but I do understand with every wave they want to bring newer and younger generations into the fold. So there in lies the problem with making us older collectors happy while trying to please the Tot set/Bag crowd. Not to hate on other toy lines but why does it seem like the Joes don't get that much love when it comes to shelf space and marketability. Maybe they could use more toy commercials, flag points, mail in offers, more weekend sales, updated or newer playsets, I was in-like with the PITT but would love a new Terror-drome. There are quite a few Movie and Toy lines that are dying on the shelves, ex. Pirates, rehashed Star wars, same ole Transformers in different packaging, damn Hampster toyz?(the marketing behind Zhu had to have been penned by Satan himself, really how does one make Hampsters cool?....leave Tom Cruise alone haha) Iron man & Cap A, I've seen a million of them but none of their adversaries, the list could go on and on, & the new Thundercats look awesome but Bandai kinda scares me, and the fact that they're almost 20 bux a fig. This is our hard earned money and I do love buying my lil plastic men and robots like the next collector but do we have to buy everything that comes out no, and that's where I make my stand if its not cool I just have to walk away, like the poker table....

These new Joes are so flimsy. I can't see myself paying good money on them.

DPrime - 2011-08-21 @ 11:47 am

Blah.

Yeah...I don't see this line going anywhere. Is there anyone out there who's excited about it?

I don't know... I'm excited about Quarrel. This, not so much.

We need to see more pics of upcoming figures or at least some kind of list. I understand they're trying to copy the MOTUC method but I have a lot more faith in 4H designs...

What happened with the zombie figure in the GI Joe line?
xhairs - 2011-08-20 @ 5:46 pm

well so far both are a pass and the price kills it for me also. i mean 1 you have to buy all the figs you cant just pick and chose. then they put army builders in a sub line when it should be for single figs we wont get from hasbro. also there is no other info about this like who will be in the line up and the real price . the down side is you have to pay to be a member then on top of that you have to pay for all 13 of them upfront. thats alot to ask from us and to just pay with only being shown 2 figs and no list.

Kill Solo - 2011-08-20 @ 5:29 pm

I was all set to buy into the subscription but at $25 a figure forget about it. That's ridiculous.
