G.I.Joe Gets The Green Light For A 3rd Movie

After a 9-month delay while the studio decided to covert it to 3D, Paramount's G.I. Joe: Retaliation starring The Rock and Bruce Willis opened this weekend at the number 1 spot with a domestic take of only $41.2 million. Since opening Wednesday evening, the movie has collected a total of $51.7 million. This also includes some of the early Tuesday evening showings. The real saving grace for this movie is its foreign box office take which netted the studio an additional $80.3 million making its total take for the week around $132,007,000. Production costs for the movie have been quoted to be around $130 million so this does put the movie in the green.

According to a Tweet by Andrew Stewart at Variety, this is enough to convince the studio to move forward with a third G.I. Joe movie.
