Toy Fair 2010 - Jazwares Booth Report

by Peter Van
February 14, 2010
Toy News International is live here at Toy Fair and visited the Jazwares booth today. We saw some pretty exciting stuff today, including Sonic: The Hedgehog, A-Team, and *drum roll* Robot Chicken!

Sonic The Hedgehog

Sega All Stars Racers
Large scale versions of these toys were on display. The vehicles are designed to fit the entire line of 3-inch figures and we were shown the following:
  • Sonic (blue race car)
  • Shadow (black motorcycle)
  • Knuckles (ATV)

Small scale versions were also available, and they figures include:
  • Sonic (blue race car)
  • Shadow (black motorcycle)
  • Amy (ping MG-looking vehicle)

Jazwares told us that Wave 2 will see the expansion of the line to Sonic the Hedgehog characters Dr. Eggman, Tails, and Knuckles. The line will also broaden itself outside of the Sega franchise and include Ai Ai, Amigo from (Samba De Amigo), and Beat.

    3" Sonic Comic Book 2-Pack
We get our first look at the Metal Sonic and Sonic packaged along with the comic book. It is the only way to get the Metal Sonic figure at this time. The figure will be released in the future by itself, but there is not a date attached to that decision.

Sonic and Amy will also share a comic book 2-pack together in the future (no date).

    Super Posers
Knuckles and Tails will continue the expansion of this line.

    Plush
On display for the Plush line were
  • Sonic the Werehog
  • Knckles
  • Silver Sonic
  • Tails
  • Sonic
  • Shadow

Unfortunately it is still pending licensor approval, so we were not allowed to photograph these soft guys.

    A-Team

Jazwares were very excited to show these figures off to us. Due to pending licensor approval, though, we were not allowed to photograph the items that were on display, so you'll have to use your imagination.

    3.75-Inch Scale
All four main characters will be available in the first wave of the toyline and will feature full articulation (similar to their Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief line) as well as a matte paint.

Military Assortments packs will also be available, featuring all four main characters and Lynch. They were able to work with the studio to let them take additional characters and have them don military gear.

    12-Inch figures
    The figures on display were:
  • B.A. Baracus
  • Hannibal

Will have limited articulation but will feature sounds from the film. Jazwares was also able to work with the film studio to take scans of the actors' faces, so these facial features will be very authentic-looking figures.

    A Team Van
This great-looking vehicle will have three opening doors, the driver, passenger, and sliding door. The vehicle will be complete with seats so that the 3.75-inch figures may fit inside and ride along.

The vehicle will also have working headlights and sounds from the film.

    Robot Chicken

This line is so fresh, that Joe Amaro of Jazwares actually had to pull this information out from a hidden display case somewhere!

Mr. Amaro used to work on Robot Chicken (before it was called Robot Chicken) and when the time came for a toyline to accompany the show, the choice was simple: Jazwares.

The figures detailed were of 3.75-inch figures, which Seth Green loves, we were told.

The prototype and concept images we were shown are:
  • Gummy Bear with trap - sounds are activated when a figure steps into and activates the trap.
  • Action Robot along with the washing machine (with "hip-motion" action)
  • Mad Scientist
  • Robot Chicken
  • Drummberboy
  • Composite Santa
  • Nerd
  • Unicorn (maybe w/ Nerd)

You can also expect 2-packs featuring a 4-inch Mad Scientist with a 3-inch Robot Chicken.

Also expect an 10-inch Robot Chicken with sounds, and possibly the clucking song played during the credits.
