I don't even really know Abyss, but man I love his design, that new special one with the red and the white cape is a really good looking figure, but also gives me Fortnite vibes, I'd buy this figure on the strength of it looking cool, but I also hold no connection to the character so I won't hunt it out, if it falls into my lap I;ll buy.
Really like Green Lantern. Superman still looks terrible tho lol and I still stand by my opinion that the card holders are a waste

I saw it in a 2 pack first. I see it's solo from the above pics so I'm snatching it for sure!

What do you mean? It is sold solo. I already have it and Alan Scott in hand form BBTS. They're nice figures. I skipped on first appearance Superman. The $29.99 price point absolutely is not justified for these, though. These easily could have been regular offerings at the $19.99 - $24.99 price. The only extras are a slightly nicer display stand and slightly different deco'd box that the figure isn't even centered in (just like if it came with a collect to build part).
I don't think that the platinum edition chases are improvements. I think that I like the regular releases better. The platinum colors on Abyss really give me a Marvel Taskmaster vibe.
The standard Abyss figure is one of my favorite figures that McFarlane has done, probably only behind Frankenstein and Frost King. It's really, really good!

Good luck!

No problem. One thing also, the comics way back then weren't always consistent either. Like I said on the cover his boots were red; the S symbol on the cape was hit-and-miss too. It was the 1930s after all and they were still making it up as they went. After a few issues though it became permanent and has been there for almost 80 years.

Around issue #6 is when they went back to being red, and also the more or less distinctive shape he's had for almost 85 years now. McFarlane was just being sloppy here. If you're looking for a first appearance Superman, save your money for something that's accurate. He'll probably do it correctly down the line.
