Starting with the first release of popular superheroes Wonder Woman and Supergirl, each inspired by the DC STARS line and fully authorized by DC COMICS.

“In the action figure industry, many collectibles are based on comic book characters, but most tend to have molded clothing and hair,” notes Robert Tonner, CEO and head designer of the award-winning Tonner company. “I wanted to bring a different approach to this category working large scale, with more detailed, removable clothing, offering separately available costumes and finely detailed accessories – something collectors haven’t seen until now. What we have created is a new type of hybrid. I believe a new classification is appropriate for my heroes; hence the TCF™ concept.”

The TONNER CHARACTER FIGURES™ are app. 16” tall with multiple articulated joints for expressive movement and mobility. In keeping with the fine detail and high-end quality of Tonner’s other popular product lines, TONNER CHARACTER FIGURES™ will feature hand-detailed face painting, rooted hair, and authentic costuming inspired by the character’s life.

Tonner® will expand the collection in 2007 to include SUPERMAN, LOIS LANE, BATMAN, BATGIRL, and other infamous heroes and villains, as well as licenses recently signed by some of the major movie studios. “This is an exciting time for us,” notes Tonner. “We’re doing things we’ve never done before and introducing them to a new audience – we think the time is right.”

Tonner may be right. According to leading consumer and retail information provider The NPD Group, retail sales in the U.S. toy industry generated just over $21.3 billion in 2005, with Action Figures & Accessories rising over four percent, exceeding $1.3 billion in sales.
